Hey Liberals! Got Any "Change" To Spare? Fed Gov Debt = $546,668 Per Household.

Funny...somehow I just can't remember signing any paperwork to hold me accountable for this debt. So Maybe they can just fuck off when they try to collect!!!

USA Today: Leap in U.S. debt hits taxpayers with 12% more red ink

By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY
Taxpayers are on the hook for an extra $55,000 a household to cover rising federal commitments made just in the past year for retirement benefits, the national debt and other government promises, a USA TODAY analysis shows.

The 12% rise in red ink in 2008 stems from an explosion of federal borrowing during the recession, plus an aging population driving up the costs of Medicare and Social Security.

That's the biggest leap in the long-term burden on taxpayers since a Medicare prescription drug benefit was added in 2003.

The latest increase raises federal obligations to a record $546,668 per household in 2008, according to the USA TODAY analysis. That's quadruple what the average U.S. household owes for all mortgages, car loans, credit cards and other debt combined.

"We have a huge implicit mortgage on every household in America — except, unlike a real mortgage, it's not backed up by a house," says David Walker, former U.S. comptroller general, the government's top auditor.

Here is what the other half of the American population who didn't voted for for hope and change have to say about this issue to the Obama Government:

The Obama US Justice Department is copying the African model: "justice and liberty for we, not for thee"

Hope'n change. And pink unicorns.

WASHINGTON TIMES EDITORIAL: Protecting Black Panthers

The Obama administration ignores voter intimidation

Imagine if Ku Klux Klan members had stood menacingly in military uniforms, with nightsticks, in front of a polling place. Add to it that they had hurled racial threats and insults at voters who tried to enter.
Now suppose that the government, backed by a nationally televised video of the event, had won a court case against the Klansmen except for the perfunctory filing of a single, simple document - but that an incoming Republican administration had moved to voluntarily dismiss the already-won case.
Surely that would have been front-page news, with a number of firings at the Justice Department.

The flip side of this scenario is occurring right now. The culprits weren't Klansmen; they belonged to the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. One of the defendants, Jerry Jackson, is an elected member of Philadelphia's 14th Ward Democratic Committee and was a credentialed poll watcher for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party when the violations occurred. Rather conveniently, the Obama administration has asked that the cases against Mr. Jackson, two other defendants and the party be dropped.
The Voting Rights Act is very clear. It prohibits any "attempt to intimidate, threaten or coerce" any voter or those aiding voters.

The explanation for moving to dismiss the case is shocking. According to the Department of Justice: "These same Defendants have made no appearance and have filed no pleadings with the Court. Nor have they otherwise raised any other defenses to this action. Therefore, the United States has the right ... to dismiss voluntarily this action against the Defendants."
In other words, because the defendants haven't tried to defend themselves, the Justice Department won't punish them.
By that logic, if a murderer doesn't respond to the charges, he should be let free. That's crazy.

Just in case you don't have an archery range near by or you are sick and tired of buying commercially made archery targets, here is an idea for you:

The Home Made Carpet Target

Total cost: $25, one hour of my time and a knee pain from kneeling down when cutting the carpet in squares.
The best part is if some of the carpet layers are deteriorating from being shot too much, they can be simply replaced.

Sotomayor, Just As Competent As The Lightworker

From Washington Times

Quote:
Sotomayor reversed 60% by high court

Stephen Dinan

With Judge Sonia Sotomayor already facing questions over her 60 percent reversal rate, the Supreme Court could dump another problem into her lap next month if, as many legal analysts predict, the court overturns one of her rulings upholding a race-based employment decision.

Three of the five majority opinions written by Judge Sotomayor for the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals and reviewed by the Supreme Court were reversed, providing a potent line of attack raised by opponents Tuesday after President Obama announced he will nominate the 54-year-old Hispanic woman to the high court.

"Her high reversal rate alone should be enough for us to pause and take a good look at her record. Frankly, it is the Senates duty to do so," said Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America.

Bye Bye Pelosi?

Dick Morris thinks so:

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one day. As they walked, they come across a sign: "Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world."
"I am entering!" said Snow White. After half an hour she comes out and they ask her, "Well, how'd ya do?"
"First Place!" said Snow White.
They continue walking and they see a sign: "Contest for the strongest man in the world."
"I'm entering," says Superman. After half an hour, he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?"
"First Place," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?"
They continue walking when they see a sign: "Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?" Pinocchio enters.
After half an hour he returns with tears in his eyes.
"What happened?" they asked.
"Who the hell is this Nancy Pelosi?" asked Pinocchio.

Take Our Country Back

One word describes it:

Superb!

Take Our Country Back
Chris Cassone

I woke up today like I was still dreaming
It seems our country has begun to disappear
Our enemies theyre constantly scheming Principles are hardly seen Especially by those who lead

Day after day I feel a little more helpless
To these changes happening right before our eyes
Our Bill of Rights is moving faster to the left Soon theyll try to take away the only voices left that say the truth
(theres one thing left to do)
Take it back. Take our Country back.
Cant you see that were under attack
Draw a line in the sand so they all understand
And our nation stays intact
Take it back

I remember when the planes hit New York City
It hit us all like a shot right through the heart
Look around now its such a pity The enemies are closing in Especially the ones within (and theres one thing we must do..)

Take it back. Take our Country back.
This governments breaking our backs
Draw a line in the sand so they all understand
And our nation stays intact
Take it back

Now my Dad he was one of the valiant
The generations who shed their blood so we are free
Over there they fight our Founding Fathers might If they saw the mess we made Theyd all be rolling in the grave (and theres one thing we must do..)

Take it back. Take our Country back.
Our way of life now is under attack
Draw a line in the sand so they all understand
And our values stays intact
Take it back My Country Tis of Thee Sweet Land of Liberty Of Thee I Sing

How Gun Rights In Romania Were Lost And A Few Words About The Brave Man And Women Who Fought A Guerilla War Against Communism

My previous blog entry about Mr. Duca, the young Romanian candidate to the EU Parliament and his position on gun rights for the citizens of his country was read by a member of a gun forum where I post often.
This member asked me to clarify a few things for him about Romania and firearms rights in that part of the world, which I did. I decided to post his questions and my answers on my blog because this way more people may have the opportunity to learn little known facts about how easy it is to lose your guns and how hard - if not impossible it is to get them back.

Question:
Is there even a gun control debate in Romania? It would seem a prudent discussion to have considering the soviet and communist occupation in their recent history.

Answer:
Actually, I don't think so...yet.
You see, before the Soviet communization of Romania, the people had the right to have guns. I remember my father telling me his dad owned a double barreled shotgun he used to hunt doves and rabbits with as well as a Luger pistol picked from the retreating German troops (the German soldiers were getting rid of all their military equipment by simply throwing it out of the troop transport trains).

When the communists took power in 1949 following falsified elections, the first law they enacted was total gun confiscation (for the greater good of course). Then after they made sure the population was disarmed they started the arrests, imprisonments, reeducation camps and killings.
So practically since 1949 it was illegal to own any firearms in communist Romania. The only exception was for hunting purposes: only single and double barreled shotguns, only with a special permit form the police, the owner was required to be a member of a state run hunting association and the guns must be registered and locked at the police station any time the dictator was in town.

After so many years of restrictions and servitude for over two generations, the perception of the Romanian population about gun rights changed in worse; I must admit when I first came to the US I too was surprised to see how owning guns is something normal and affordable and I too believed guns in the hands of untrained people can be dangerous (and keep in mind I served 2 years in the military so I was familiar with firearms)
Luckily I was educated in the principles of the 2nd Amendment by a friend and that's how I got my first gun - a Glock 21.

Question:
Yeah the Romanian story is one that I think should be told more often. It's amazing to hear some of the things that went on under communism.

Out of curiosity, when the soviet troops occupied Romania and dismantled the army and installed their commnist regime how would the 2a have prevented that? I only ask since my parents always seem to come back to pistols are no match for tanks argument. Just curious on your thoughts (my grandparents lived through the occupation in Romania)

Answer:
I am glad to answer your question. When the Soviets brought the communists to power in 1947-1948 one of the the first things the new communist regime did was to confiscate all firearms. (as a side note: the Russians actually had to bring with them from the USSR the entire leadership of the Romanian Communist Party because there weren't enough "capable comrades" to be found locally).

Anyway, after so many years of war and occupation the overwhelming majority of the people were sick and tired of the war; so they believed what the propaganda of the new regime was telling them. They were lied that the government will protect them, that guns must be surrendered for their own safety, that since the war is over there is no need for guns anymore and since they will start a new life as owners and rulers of the People's Republic (that sounds very tempting - the Republic of the People, isn't it?) they have no need for guns since the people are making the laws and enforce the rules.

So believing that crap, the vast majority of the population voluntarily surrendered their guns without firing a single shot. Next thing you know in 1948/49, the communists started making arrests. Leaders and members of the opposition Parties, all officers in the military, intellectuals, clergy, writers and artists, simple farmers like my grandad and small business owners; in other words the cream of the Romanian citizenry got imprisoned, sentenced to life, interned in reeducation camps, killed or simply disappeared forever.

As it turned out, not all Romanians turned their guns in the previous year. There was a small number of patriots who knew what was about to happen. Among them there were a number of capable military officers who fled when the communists started making arrests, some peasants and workers plus in the region where I am from, members of a national minority named Aromani (or Macedo-Romani). These people who speak a language that is considered proto (ancient)-Romanian are tracking their origins to Alexander The Great; they are very tough and determined individuals, good businessmen who made decent money in sheep herding and trading goods - but not only. You could compare their character and toughness with the Americans living in the Appalachian mountains.

So these merry bands of armed Romanians took arms and retreated in the Carpathian mountains; they called themselves "haiduci" (spell hayduchy) and they were the Romanian version of Tito's Partizans - only they were fighting the Soviet and the Communist Romanian army. Their guns were whatever they could get their hands on but they benefited from the support of the population in the small mountain villages where they were fighting.
The communists tactic to defeat them was to terrorize, infiltrate, arrest or displace the local population supporting them. The Securitate and military were fighting with full auto AK-47's tanks, machine guns and airplanes while the guerrilla fighters were using WWII Mausers and whatever they were capturing from the dead enemy.
Even like that - short in guns, ammunition, food and with diminished local support, these patriots continued their fight from 1947 until late 50's early 60's which is no small accomplishment. In fact, it is the longest lasting anti-communist armed resistance movement in the former Communist block.

By the time Ceausescu came to power in mid 60's with a platform of de-Stalinization, there were very few anti-communist fighters left alive. The new dictator promised an amnesty for everyone and those maybe a dozen freedom fighters still alive who were malnourished, beat up and tired to live on the run saw a chance to reunite with what was left of their families and took it. The promised American invasion the Romanian people were waiting for never came to their rescue.

Do I believe guns in the hands of determined people would have helped stopping the communists? Depends on the number of guns and number of people. Keep in mind, the overwhelming majority of the population surrendered their arms, only a minuscule fraction of them chose to keep them and fight. At the time, the population of Romania was 14 million. Less than 10,000 of them took up arms and confronted the communists. That's 0.7% of the population, and while it wasn't enough to win it still was enough to keep the commies on on their toes for over 16 years.
So my sincere opinion is that yes, a reasonably large number of patriots (somewhere between 3%-4% of the population - which is the same percentage that started and fought the War of Independence in the America) well armed and having the support of the majority of the non-combatant population can have a real chance to overthrow a dictatorial regime over a number of years.

As another side note: I had the pleasure and honor to meet one of these great patriots, one of the very few freedom fighters who survived years of detention in communist prisons. He emigrated to America and now lives in Whittier, less than 15 miles away from my home. As it happens I didn't knew his story in the beginning; his oldest daughter is my wife's best friend and we knew each other for a number of years but he never mentioned anything to me about his past. Only when one day I visited the home of this modest man I noticed a framed piece of paper on the wall in his living room with his name on it and with the phrase "awarded by the Government of Romanian Republic in recognition to the sacrifice, courage and years of anti-communist fighting".

A Romanian Conservative Politician On The Right To Keep And Bear Arms

One of the blogs of merit I discovered belongs to a young and bright Romanian named Bogdan Duca and it is called The New Conservatism

The article that attracted my attention to his blog was Do I Scare You? The Values I Stubbornly Hold On To in which the author presents his conservative political credo - and trust me my friends, after reading his blog entry I believe this Romanian gentlemen could make a great chairman for the RNC or for the American conservative movement of today which is sorely missing a good and charismatic leader.
Too bad he's not an American and he is living in a small country of which most Americans heard nothing about but stories about Dracula or that it produced a talented gymnast from the 70's named Nadia Comaneci.

So after reading his very interesting essay I posted a very short question on the comments section which sounded like this:

What is your position in regards to the right of the regular citizens to own firearms?

His response was crystal clear, to the object and had a healthy dose of logic and common sense - things that are sorely missed by the enlightened and well educated anti-gun liberal American elites of today:

I believe in the right of citizens to defend their lives and property. As a consequence, I believe people have the right to own guns - because guns are the tools required to defend themselves and their property.
Moreover, considering the rising number of violent crimes in Romania it is absurd not to allow honest and law abiding citizens the right and the means of self defense.
I am profoundly impressed by the US Constitution which not only allows, but in a sense mandates the citizens right to own and bear arms in order so they could defend themselves against a tyrannical government.
Can we bring this guy to America and give him citizenship? Or at least support him to run for President of Romania two years from now?

Armed Student Saves 10 Lives; Dyane Sawyer Weeps

From BFA here is a story that would make ABC's Dianne Sawyer look like the lying fool she is - if the story would ever made national news.
But since the story debunks one of the liberal media favorite lies "when attacked by thugs it's safer to be disarmed", don't put your hopes in seeing it making national news.
Truth be told, the liberals in the media would rather report about the lifeless bodies of rape victims lying down in pools of blood than telling a story about how a victim pulled a gun and in the process of defending his life put a hole or two in a scumbags head.

Georgia college student saves 10 lives with gun; Ohio's defenseless students targeted by criminals

One of the principle claims made in Diane Sawyer's rigged campus carry experiment, recently aired on ABC's 20/20, was that having a gun wouldn't protect a college student, that ordinary people like college students aren't trained to handle stress, that they might shoot innocent people, and that the bad guy might take their gun away.

Apparently someone forgot to tell a student in College Park, GA that they were better off without having a gun ready at hand...and at least ten college students say they are alive today because of it.

From Atlanta, Georgia's WSBTV:

A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they're thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones met with one of the students to talk about the incident.

"Apparently, his intent was to rape and murder us all," said student Charles Bailey.

Bailey said he thought it was the end of his life and the lives of the 10 people inside his apartment for a birthday party after two masked men with guns burst in through a patio door.

"They just came in and separated the men from the women and said, 'Give me your wallets and cell phones,'" said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.

Bailey said the gunmen started counting bullets. "The other guy asked how many (bullets) he had. He said he had enough," said Bailey.

The story says that's when one student grabbed a gun out of a backpack and shot at the invader who was watching the men. The gunman ran out of the apartment.

The student then ran to the room where the second gunman, identified by police as 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, was holding the women.

"Apparently the guy was getting ready to rape his girlfriend. So he told the girls to get down and he started shooting. The guy jumped out of the window," said Bailey.

A neighbor heard the shots and heard someone running nearby.

"And I heard someone say, 'Someone help me. Call the police. Somebody call the police,'" said a neighbor.

The neighbor said she believes it was Lavant, who was found dead near his apartment, only one building away.

Bailey said he is just thankful one student risked his life to keep others alive.

"I think all of us are really cognizant of the fact that we could have all been killed," said Bailey.

One female student was shot several times, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Police told the media they are close to making the arrest of the second suspect.

Meanwhile, back in Ohio, officials at The Ohio State University say that the increasingly high level of street-level crimes - thefts, robberies, assaults and break-ins - in the University District is no coincidence. In fact, criminals are targeting students specifically because they know they'll be defenseless.

Video here

From OSU's The Lantern:

"What we're seeing is a shift into the university area where [criminals] are finding that students are an easy target," said Tom Wildman, the Code Enforcement & Safety Committee chair of the University Area Commission.

In the past six months, 680 street-level crimes were committed in the district, according to a Lantern analysis of crime data from crimereports.com, which takes its information from the Columbus Division of Police. These statistics include only the off-campus areas of the district, and not the OSU campus itself.

These numbers dwarf the statistics for Columbus' less densely populated core downtown area, which tallied 301 street-level crimes over the past six months, according to crimereports.com data.

Ohio is one of at least eight states that have had bills pending in the current legislative session which are designed to restore students' self-defense rights on college campuses.

Campus carry legislation has already been signed into law during the current legislative session in North Dakota. In Missouri, the House of Representatives has already passed campus carry legislation, and hearings are now being held in the Senate. A campus carry bill is currently stalled in Indiana's Senate Judiciary Committee, and the Oklahoma legislature allowed that state's campus carry bill to die for this session. Things are going better in the Tennessee House House Judiciary subcommittee, where hearings have been held on a Vol State campus carry bill. Hearings on campus carry legislation are also being held in both chambers of the Texas legislature.

Back in the Buckeye State, Rep. John Adam's HB129 has yet to receive a hearing. And the students of Ohio's campuses continue to pay the price in the loss of blood and treasure.

Chad D. Baus is the Buckeye Firearms Association Vice Chairman, and a NRA-certified firearms instructor.

AP: 5 Miami Men Convicted Of Sears Tower Attack Plot

MIAMI (AP) — It took three trials, three juries and nearly three years, but federal prosecutors finally succeeded Tuesday in convicting five Miami men of plotting to start an anti-government insurrection by destroying Chicago's Sears Tower and bombing FBI offices. One man was acquitted.

When the FBI swarmed the downtrodden Liberty City neighborhood to make the arrests in June 2006, the administration of President George W. Bush hailed the case as a prime example of the Justice Department's post-Sept. 11 policy of disrupting potential terror plots in the earliest possible stages.

Yet hours of FBI recordings of terrorist talk contrasted with little concrete evidence of an evolving plot, triggering two mistrials because juries could not agree on verdicts against ringleader Narseal Batiste or five followers. One of the original seven defendants was acquitted after the first trial.

"Any cases that involve someone's mental intent, their intention when they made certain statements, are always difficult," said Matthew Orwig, former U.S. attorney in Texas who has monitored the Miami case. "It was a must-win for the government. They needed some vindication."

Finally, this third jury found the way on its sixth day of deliberations.

It wasn't the only victory Tuesday for terrorism prosecutors. In a separate case in New York, a jury convicted a Lebanese-born Swede of trying to set up a terror training camp in Oregon in 1999. The verdict against Oussama Kassir capped a three-week trial.

In the Miami case, Batiste, 35, was the only one convicted of all four terrorism-related conspiracy counts, including plotting to provide material support to terrorists and conspiring to wage war against the U.S. Batiste, who was on the vast majority of FBI recordings, faces up to 70 years in prison.

Batiste's right-hand man, 29-year-old Patrick Abraham, was convicted on three counts and faces 50 years behind bars. Convicted on two counts and facing 30 years are 24-year-old Burson Augustin, 25-year-old Rotschild Augustine and 33-year-old Stanley Grant Phanor. Naudimar Herrera, 25, was cleared of all four charges.

U.S. District Judge Joan Lenard set sentencing for July 27 for the five convicted men, most of whom are Haitian or have Haitian ancestry.

Iraq blames Al Qaida revival on U.S. release of 4,000 insurgents

BAGHDAD — Iraq has launched another offensive against Al Qaida, raiding suspected AQI strongholds throughout the Diyala province, capturing insurgents and confiscating suicide vests. ShareThis

The Iraqi offensive was launched amid an AQI suicide bombing campaign in Baghdad and Mosul. Officials said AQI has revived its operational cells and intensified operations as the U.S. military prepares to withdraw from cities by June 30.

Iraqi military spokesman Maj. Gen. Atta Qassim said the resurgence of Al Qaida was fueled by the U.S. release of nearly 4,000 insurgents in 2009. Qassim said the released insurgents have been returning to both Al Qaida and organized crime.

On May 6, at least 17 people were killed in a two car bombings at a market in southern Baghdad, populated mostly by Sunnis. Officials acknowledged that security at the market was light.

Officials said the Iraqi security forces were capable of battling AQI. But they acknowledged that authorities were hampered by a shortage of intelligence.

Officials said more than 50 suspected insurgents were killed in nearly one week of the Iraqi operation.

"We've seized weapons, included suicide vests," Iraqi Col. Salam Ahmed Naji said.

Security forces also captured more than 60 suspects, including three women, in Diyala. Officials said the province has been the launching pad for AQI insurgency attacks in Baghdad.

On May 4, 31 insurgency suspects were killed in Iraqi operations. Officials said scores more were injured and killed since the operation began on May 1.

Tax Rap

Yo Mr. Prez... let's see some mo' of your smooth moves bro!

H/T Lady Cincinnatus

Paintball Nazis

Imagine this: in Germany, a deeply deranged young man who is an amateur automobile race driver gets the keys of his father Mercedes Benz and plows the car at 70 miles/hour in a crowd celebrating Oktoberfest in a beer garden killing 15 people.

The reaction of the German government is swift and decisive: ban car racing, ban cars with 6 or more cylinders and ban Hot Wheels and any other automobile toys.

Think that can't happen? Wait until you read the following story:

The German government is planning to ban paintball and laser shooting games in reaction to the recent school massacre in which 15 people died.

Under legislation agreed by the ruling coalition of the chancellor, Angela *Merkel, using air rifles to shoot paint-filled pellets at opponents is likely to be made illegal, and would be punishable with fines of up to €5,000 (£4,480).

The decision, which is expected to be fast-tracked through the Bundestag before the summer recess, comes two months after 17-year-old Tim Kretschmar shot dead 15 people at his former school in Winnenden, south-west Germany, with a weapon he had taken from his father's bedroom. Kretschmar's love of paintball as well as violent video and computer games was widely publicised.

The government has found itself under pressure to tighten gun laws in Germany in what has become one of the main issues before a general election in September.

"This so-called game plays down violence, leading to the danger that people have fewer inhibitions about shooting each other," said Dieter Wiefelsputz, of the Social Democrats.

Owners of paintball arenas, which are already out of bounds for under-18s, said they felt they were easy targets in what opposition politicians have referred to as "populistic placebo politics".

Arne Petry, spokesman for the German Paintball League, said: "Paintball is not about simulating bloodbaths – the most you're going to end up with is a bruise or two."

The owner of one of Germany's largest paintball halls, north-west of Berlin, said he thought the ban ironic, not least because "many of my customers are government workers". He said he counted bank managers, firefighters, police and even security guards from Merkel's chancellery among his regular customers.

"They come here after their shifts to let off steam and stay for several hours at a time," he said, requesting anonymity.

The new law is also expected to forbid under-18s access to high-calibre guns and to make it easier for police to carry out random controls at the homes of registered gun owners.

Claudia Roth, head of the Green party, said that while she was no fan of paintball, the government's plan to ban it was hypocritical and amounted to a "cowardly concession to the gun lobby".

"They should instead be banning high-calibre weapons," she said.

Next on the agenda of the antis: ban chess. It's an abstraction of warfare and may induce into the minds the players thoughts of machine gunning the pawns, bayoneting the Knights, blowing the Queen with a hand grenade and capturing the King.
Can't have that in a civilized country.

California "Shall Issue" Concealed Carry Weapon Permits, Here We Come!

About time that the corrupt, discretionary and idiotic issuing system for Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits we have here in California to be challenged and struck down in a court of law.

With the help of the Calguns Foundation and The Second Amendment Foundation, a lawsuit was filled on behalf o several California citizens that were arbitrarily denied the right of self defense. In the light of the Heller and Nordyke rulings, the prospects of a big win for the Second Amendment supporters in California are better than ever.

So how can you help win this fight? It's simple: open your wallet and DONATE TO CALGUNS FOUNDATION. No matter how much you can or cannot afford, just do it.
And as they say: "as California goes, so the rest of the country goes", the impact on the Second Amendment rights of the ruling in this lawsuit will not only be felt in the Golden State, but in the rest of country as well.

Lawsuit Seeks Stronger Gun Rights For California Citizens

(AP) In theory, law-abiding Californians who undergo a criminal background check and pass a government training course can receive a permit from their local sheriff to carry a concealed firearm.

But in practice, many California counties flatly deny permits to residents who meet the requirements for a concealed carry permit -- a situation that a lawsuit filed in federal court in Sacramento on Tuesday hopes to remedy.

The lawsuit filed by the Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation says the routine denials of concealed carry permits violate the right to bear arms protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

One of the plaintiffs is Deanna Sykes, a lesbian and a firearms instructor who says she believes her sexual orientation and small stature make her a target for criminals. Another is Andrew Witham, a private investigator and campus public safety officer, whose local sheriff denied his request to carry a handgun while away from work.

The case "presents a very simple legal issue: people have the right to bear arms," Alan Gura, a Virginia attorney representing the plaintiffs, told CBSNews.com on Wednesday. "The state is able to regulate that right, but it cannot arbitrarily deny the right to bear arms based on the whims of local officials. The current law has absolutely no standards to it, and some local officials regrettably abuse their discretion. They decide self-defense is not a valid reason to deny the gun carry permit."

Section 12050 of California law says that "the sheriff of a county, upon proof that the person applying is of good moral character" may issue a concealed carry permit. Californians who carry a concealed weapon without a license are subject to criminal penalties including fines and a one-year jail term. (Nearly every state has some form of concealed carry laws, with 36 states saying that sheriffs must issue them by default, and two states -- Alaska and Vermont -- require no advance permission.)

What the pro-gun rights groups that filed this lawsuit hope to do is apply the U.S. Supreme Court's reasoning in the landmark D.C. v. Heller case decided last year. Even though Heller focused on the firearm restrictions of the nation's capital, by recognizing a constitutional right protecting individual possession of firearms, the justices expressed a dim view of sweeping prohibitions on Americans' Second Amendment rights.

Gura said that he knew of no case filed since the Supreme Court's decision that has led to a definitive ruling about how Heller applies to concealed carry permits.

A map prepared by the CalCCW.com site shows that the more liberal counties around San Francisco and Los Angeles tend to be the ones that deny permits to regular citizens. A 2007 report from the state of California shows that the county of San Francisco, for instance, issued only six permits that year -- while the rural, wooded, and far less populous county of Shasta issued 2,306 permits.

A bill titled AB 357 introduced in the California legislature in February would remove some discretion from local officials if the applicant for a permit qualified for one. (The city of Davis, for instance, tells applicants: "An evaluation and comparison of our current services to available resources has forced us to discontinue processing and issuing CCW [Carry Concealed Weapon] licenses. I apologize for the inconvenience this action will cause you.")

Last month, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment -- which required states to offer freedoms found in the Bill of Rights such as a jury trial -- protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. That decision is important because it means extreme state laws violate the Second Amendment as much as extreme federal laws would, and it is binding on the Sacramento court where the lawsuit was filed this week.

Representatives of the defendants in this case, Sacramento county and Yolo county, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

Hawaii Democrat Senate Majority Passes Christianity Day Bill

No, not really...It's just a joke. Why would they do that?
After all, Christianity didn't brought any contributions to the development of the Western society. It's a backward religion that is followed by dangerous, violent people. Not mentioning the issue of the separation between state and religion, so carefully watched by the Democrats although never mentioned in the US Constitution.

So seriously, what bill did the HI Democrats passed in reality, you may ask?
Oh, well...a bill celebrating...ISLAM DAY.
You know, that Religion Of Peace(TM). After 9/11 it really deserved a day to celebrate, right?

HONOLULU -- Hawaii's state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate "Islam Day" -- over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn't want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate's two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

"I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue -- same-sex civil unions.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.

The bill seeks to recognize "the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions" that Islam and the Islamic world have made. It does not call for any spending or organized celebration of Islam Day.

"We are a state of tolerance. We understand that people have different beliefs," said Sen. Will Espero, a Democrat. "We may not all agree on every single item and issue out there, but to say and highlight the negativity of the Islamic people is an insult to the majority" of believers "who are good law-abiding citizens of the world."

But Republican Sen. Sam Slom argued that the United States has become too sympathetic toward Islamic extremists.

"I don't think there's any country in the history of the world that has been more tolerant than the United States of America, and because of that tolerance, we've looked the other way a lot of times, and many thousands of our citizens have been killed by terrorists," said Slom, a Republican.

The lone Democrat voting against the bill opposed it on church-state separation fears.

Democrats are tolerant-- tolerant of anything no matter how criminal, dictatorial, racist, murderous, terrorist, inhuman and degrading for women... they will be tolerant of a religion and a false God that was invoked by the subhuman beasts that killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11. They will be tolerant of practically anything but.... just don't ask them to be tolerant of anything that encompasses traditional American and Christian values.

"Give Me Your Terrorists, Your Extremists...

...Your Hardcore Islamic Jihadis Yearning To Die For Allah"

Frank Gaffney speaks on Lightworker's’s release of the Uighur Islamic terrorists held at Gitmo into the U.S. Population.

Maybe we can have the Obamas to foster one or two Uighurs in the West Wing?
Or maybe Pelosi and Reid? I'm sure they have enough room in their mansions for a couple of them.

Obama's Top Secret Headackes

A DGSE (the French Intelligence Service) agent is having a friendly chat about the Lightworker with Dr. Jack Wheeler.
The account of the meeting between the two is below.
Excellent read, every single word of it. The complete version is available at Atlas Shrugs.

Warning: Not recommended for Obamapologists; may cause stroke, heart attacks and heads exploding.

A LAUGHINGSTOCK IN PARIS

Paris, France. It is very cool to be a French intel guy. A spectacular meal at a Parisian bistro with $90 entrées and a $200 bottle of Bordeaux? No problem. I'd known this fellow since he got me out of a jam in Sudan years ago. His James Bond days are over, but still, riding a desk for the DGSE -- Direction générale de la sécurité extérieure (General Directorate for External Security), France's military intel agency - in Paris has its decided benefits.

One of them is not being infected with Obamamania. "My agency considers him a joke," he confides. "Every day there is some fresh lunacy that we cannot believe. Mr. Bush would often make us angry. But at this man we just laugh."

"In truth, it also makes us sad," he continued. "French resentment towards America is strong, so being able to laugh at your country feels good. But it is such a sad and strange thing to see America - America The Great! - do something so crazy as to elect this ridiculous man."

How Much Would You Pay For A Pair Of These Sneakers?

$49?

$75?

$120?

$155?

$175?

How about $500?

Does it sounds the right amount for a public figure to spend on a pair of sneakers when the country is in recession and heading toward depression?

Let 'em eat cake!

I dunno...to me it seems to be a little over the top - in particular when you claim to be for the little guy and feel his pain. A little modesty and humility didn't hurt anyone.
