An Iowa group once active in lobbying for gun control has disbanded after losing a major grant. The November 1st coalition began after the November 1, 1991 shootings on the University of Iowa campus and was later renamed Iowans for the Prevention of Gun Violence.

U-I professor Rex Honey served on the board of directors and hopes to revive the group. "I will try in autumn to get some students involved at the University of Iowa, given that the campus was what started our organization in the first place," Honey said. "So, it's not that we don't think there's an issue any longer."

No more money...Honey?

Honey says most recently the group has relied on volunteers to lobby the legislature. "There was a grant with the Joyce foundation for a period of close to a decade from the mid 90s well into this decade, and that funding did end," Honey said.

"That meant we could no longer hire staff, so everything was done on a volunteer basis." The organization recently helped stop a bill to loosen restrictions on county officials who issue gun permits.

Some say we will take up our guns and defend our rights. Good luck with that; those who will oppose the new gun ban will be painted by the media as crazed gunslingers, gun loons, people who want children to die of accidental gunshot wounds, cop killer types; in other words they will be chastised and declared an unacceptable risk to society. Armed revolt or not, in the end we still lose.

Some say we need to start to sending letters explaining to our Democrat RULERS a new ban won't do anything else but take guns from the hands of the law abiding Americans while leaving only the drug gangs armed.
That's just as useless proposition as an armed revolt. Simply because Obama and his thugs already know the new AWB won't do a damn thing to improve the security of the people in the US or Mexico. Security and less crime isn't what they want; reducing gang violence it is only the pretext to pass a law giving them more control over our lives and liberties while expanding and consolidating their power.

Liberal Democrats are fearing the guns in the hands of the American people. They know all too well revolutions against oppressive governments cannot succeed with if revolutionaries are disarmed or don't have access to small arms matching the capabilities of those issued to the troops sent out to repress the revolt.
The enemies of Liberty have the media on their side, they have control over the White House and the Legislative; they have a sizable number of Elmer Fudds who believe the 2nd Amendment it's only about their Remington 700 bolt action and the deer tag; and they also have the backstabbing AR/AK liberal rifle owner types populating gun forums. These are the most disgusting ones; until not too long ago they used to be very vocal Obama supporters claiming he and Biden are friends of gun owners and if we disagree with them we are scaremongering black helicopter conspiracy types. These days they are gone, nowhere to be found. I guess they can call their mission accomplished.

One sector of the American economy that is booming with the new administration is the absolute orgy of guns and ammunition sales, although I am certain President Barack Obama won’t say anything about this positive economic news.

I read more than one report of the surge of civilian firepower sales when it appeared that Obama would be elected.

Reason: Freedom lovers do not trust Obama.
His choice of Eric Holder to be attorney general bolsters that distrust.

Like Obama, Holder is a gun-control zealot —typical of the loony, anti-freedom wing of the Democratic Party.

Do not believe the president’s thinly veiled statements about supporting an individual’s right to own guns. Rather, review these men’s previous, career-long, freedom-restricting, gun-grabbing statements.

Holder consistently has supported gun bans and raising the age at which someone can purchase a weapon. He’s supported registration and licensing, waiting periods, and his all-time favorite and the felon’s dream: gun-free zones.

Losing in court

Last year Holder signed an amicus brief in support of the Washington, D.C., ban on all handguns and the use of a gun for self-defense in D.C. homes.

He stated that the Second Amendment wasn’t meant for individuals but was only intended for government militias.

The Supreme Court found otherwise. It repealed DC’s anti-freedom, pro-crime gun-control law. The Supreme Court voted for freedom. The good guys won.

Mysteriously, when Holder worked for President Bill Clinton and was in charge of the instant background check system, the system was routinely broken and off-line. Miraculously, when the Bush administration took over in 2001 the system rarely broke down. I smell a Fedzilla ratfink.

Truth is, what Holder really supports is more law-abiding citizens being victimized by recidivistic, violent punks on parole.

While he is personally protected by heavily armed law-enforcement officers, he does not believe you and I have a right to protect ourselves and our loved ones with a gun. He’s a hypocrite.

Our founding fathers supported an individual’s right to own guns. Unlike Obama and Holder, those vanguards of freedom understood that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness can not be achieved without being able to protect yourself and your loved ones from human scum who would deny you your fundamental God-given rights.

What our new president and his attorney general obviously want is control. Studying other gun-grabbing regimes of the past, they know the first thing that needs to be done to turn us from citizens to subjects is to disarm us.

My advice to American freedom lovers: Buy more guns and ammo, and join the National Rifle Association.

Fairfax, Va. – The City of San Francisco has paid $380,000 to the National Rifle Association (NRA) as reimbursement for legal fees incurred while striking down Proposition H, passed by San Francisco voters in November 2005.

“Freedom and common sense prevailed in San Francisco. Proposition H was a foolish scheme by anti-gun politicians to disarm only the law-abiding in San Francisco,” said NRA chief lobbyist Chris Cox. “NRA promised we would do everything we could to overturn this ill-conceived gun ban, and I am pleased to say that we have delivered on that promise. We will now put these funds back into use to advance self-defense civil rights in legislatures and courts.”

Combined with more than $200,000 in fees paid to City lawyers defending the ordinance and an equal value of lawyers time donated to the City for the unsuccessful defense of this case, the total costs to City taxpayers in defending against Proposition H, a civilian disarmament attempt, approaches $800,000.

Proposition H would have banned civilian handgun possession by city residents and banned the sale, transfer or distribution of any firearm or ammunition within the city. In addition, all San Francisco residents would have been jailed for a minimum of 90 days and up to six months if caught in possession of a handgun. All gun and ammunition sales and transfers would have been prohibited, and the one gun store and two antique firearm auction houses in San Francisco would have been forced out of business. Additionally, since action films involved the transfer of real prop firearms, no such films could have been made in the city.

"This is a tremendous victory, and we are thankful for the efforts of Chuck Michel and his legal team,” continued Cox. “Regrettably, San Francisco taxpayers have to bear the considerable financial burden caused by city officials’ selfish efforts to play politics with the self defense rights of law-abiding people.”

The lawsuits that struck down Proposition H were funded primarily by NRA and were supported by an NRA-led coalition of like-minded self-defense civil rights groups including the Second Amendment Foundation, California Association of Firearm Retailers, Law Enforcement Alliance of America, and San Francisco Veterans Police Officers Association. Amicus brief efforts were led by the California Rifle & Pistol Association and joined by Gun Owners of California, The Madison Society, American Entertainment Armorers Association, San Francisco Police Officers Association, Pink Pistols, and California Sportsman’s Lobby.

Clinton Pushes For New Gun And Magazine Ban

With President Barack Obama stating that his “urban agenda” includes reimposing the former federal ban on “assault weapons” and “large” magazines, it’s out-of-date to refer to that law as it was known at the time--the Clinton Gun Ban.

On second thought, maybe not just yet.

In January, speaking at a meeting of the anti-gun U.S. Conference of Mayors, former president Bill Clinton took credit for the old ban, praised the Brady Campaign for continuing to lobby Congress for a new ban, and suggested that the mood in Washington might be more favorable toward a ban now than it had been during the last eight years.

What's funny about this is that Clinton has said many times that the old ban cost Democrats Senate and Congressional seats and that maybe they shouldn't have done it. Then again, we are talking about Bill Clinton and Democrats. If they would have the brains to learn from their own mistakes they wouldn't be Democrats, right?

Pahrump, Nevada: When Citizens Make A Stand For The Second Amendment, Politicians Back Off

It started when the Pahrump NV. Town Manager Bill Kohbarger placed on the town board meeting agenda a proposition banning guns from the city property.
However, Pahrump residents caught wind of what Kohbarger and his leftist gun grabbing acolytes were scheming and by the time the board meeting started, scores of angry citizens were already packing the town hall.

There was definitely a hot time in the old town Tuesday night, due in part to an item placed on the town board meeting agenda by Pahrump Town Manager Bill Kohbarger that would have barred firearms on town-owned property, in town-owned buildings and at town-sponsored events.

Fired up residents braved the frigid winds blowing down from snow-capped Mt. Charleston as they streamed into the Bob Ruud Community Center 30 minutes early to ensure a seat for the meeting.

By the time the meeting was called to order at 7 p.m., dozens of residents were standing in the back of the hall.

The board's first order of business after the pledge of allegiance was to permanently remove the firearms ban from the agenda, on advice from the town's attorney, Rick Campbell.

He said, "My research shows the town does not have the legal right to enact these types of ordinances." That ended the matter for the board but didn't stop the 200 or so people in attendance from wanting to voice their opinions. Residents waiting to address the board lined up behind the speaker's podium and around the back of the auditorium.

Board Chairman Nicole Shupp tried to cut off the speaking, but attendees protested, wanting the board, and specifically Kohbarger, to know where they stood on the issue.

A man stating he was from District 5 was first to speak. His name was lost in the noise of the crowd as they reacted to the fact they would not be able to speak on the matter. "The colors have been shown," he said. "We are not okay with this. We can see what's coming in this country. The government is getting out of control. When it comes to gun rights and the Second Amendment, we can't give any more ground. We have zero tolerance on this issue."

The speaker paused as the hall broke out in thunderous applause.

"I want get the people whose idea this is fired," he continued. "Gun restriction only hurts the honest citizens. Don't our elected officials recognize this fact?

Referring to the recent murder of a convenience store employee, he added, "When you walk into a convenience store in Pahrump, do you know who's walking in behind you?"

As the woman next in line tried to ask the board a question, Shupp told the gathering, "We are moving on."

The crowd reacted, with several people yelling out, "Let her ask a question."

Shupp used her gavel to quiet the room, again saying the board would move on to the next agenda item, but a male voice from the back of the auditorium called out, "All in favor of hearing the question say 'Aye'."

"Ayes" rang out in the community center.

Shupp was not swayed in her determination to move to the next item. She told those in attendance that the gun ban was permanently removed from the agenda but they were invited to come back and comment at the next regularly scheduled meeting. She said, "We'll be here until midnight if everyone in the room takes a turn at the podium."

People shouted out they wanted to know why a gun ban was on the agenda in the first place, but no answer was forthcoming.

"You are not going to be re-elected madam," called out someone from the back of the hall.

Harley Kulkin addressed Shupp and the board, saying, "If you don't have time to listen to the people who elected you, you shouldn't run for public office."

In a brief interview after the lengthy meeting, Kohbarger, who bore most of the blame from those in attendance, said two residents asked him to put the gun ban on the agenda.

"They didn't show up to back me up on their own item, but I've got broad shoulders," he said.

He said he'd canvassed more than a dozen people after the item was proposed to him and came to the conclusion that guns carried in the open intimidated people.

Before the town attorney advised Kohbarger the town could not enact the ordinance, he'd planned to change the agenda item so those with concealed carry permits would not be prohibited from carrying their firearms, "because those people have training."

CCW holders must pass a background check and weapon handling test.


Residents react to ban idea

"I am totally against this gun ban," said Mike Hickey, before the Pahrump Town Board meeting began on Tuesday. "If this is the way the town manager thinks, he can go somewhere else. He is new in town and he's trying to flex his muscles. I don't know where he's from, but he can just head right on back there. I'm still a believer in the Constitution."

His friend, Daniel Spooner added, "I'm here to find out what's going on and to put in my two cents worth if necessary. I want to know if a study has been done on barring arms by the town manager. If they take our firearms, only the crooks will carry guns and law abiding people won't. I believe in my Second Amendment rights."

Bill Aldrich agreed, "We have to do everything we can to stop this gun ban from happening."

Donald Dial said, "Our rights are being taken away. This town has been like this for many, many years. What's the purpose for changing? Just because you make an ordinance to not carry a gun doesn't mean we don't have a right to carry. It's in the Constitution."

Carol Bird commented, "My husband Steve and I are here in support of citizens' right to bear arms. I don't want the town to ban guns. In my job, I am in and out of public buildings almost every day. I don't want to remove my gun every time I go into a public building."

Louis DeCanio said, "I know the elections are over so nobody has to listen to the people, but we have the right to speak."

Donald Cox asked the board who put the item on the agenda. Kohbarger simply said, "I did."

"Then you need to resign or be fired," said Cox.

Obama's White House: The Perfect Habitat For Cockroaches

They've been hiding for years, but Washington's gun ban extremists are baaaack

Like cockroaches waiting for the lights to go out before scurrying out into the open, the anti-gunners have sulked in their little holes, feeding off political scraps while we were increasing the pro-gun footprint. While the anti-gunners hid, pro-gunners were so successful that only two states don't allow legal concealed carry. The anti-gun leadership absorbed their losses and waited a long time for the pendulum to swing back in their favor.



Now that the Democrats control Congress, they see it as the cue to scurry from their hiding places. Their plan is to take away private ownership of guns in America.

Despite their failures over the years, their current plan is devoid of new strategies which leave little hope for success. Americans have grown tired of the lies, poor prognostications and outright falsification they use as "proof" that guns are a threat to public safety.

As it stands, their movement's mission statement seems to be, "we are the enlightened in society who know what is best for you and your family, so since guns scare us so they should scare you too."

Adding to their headache is the success of concealed carry laws across the United States. The laws put more guns on the street without the anti-gun gang's predicted increase in violent gun deaths. That won't stop the anti-gun groups from making up statistics to prove otherwise, since dishonesty is part of their M.O., and has been for years.



Cockroaches seem to survive just about anything, and untold years of evolution made them a freak of nature. Anti-gunners, on the other hand, only have their failed social experiment combined with a willingness to throw integrity and honesty in the garbage. They also seem to have a never-ending supply of logically challenged, emotion-based hypothetical arguments.

Yet, like cockroaches they survive political disasters to dredge up their silly arguments after every high profile crime committed with a gun.

The media plays a big role in keeping the anti-gun message in front of the American people, and in states like Ohio there is and undeniable anti-gun bias in all forms of mass communication. Without the media and their willingness to place blame after every spree killing, the anti-gun organizations would dry up and blow away in the wind. Just like what my dog leaves in the backyard.

Just about every spree killing over the last 40 years happened in a "gun free" zone. We don't want to get into an explanation of why "gun-free" zones are an invitation to criminals. Without a doubt, "gun free" zones are the epitome of legislators feeling like they have to do something to protect the children.


Clearly, the "gun-free" school zone legislation was passed without required foresight, since hundreds of lives were lost over the years because criminals know schools are possibly the softest target in America. Leaving America's most vital resource at the whim of typical street scum, or people with a serious mental illness, is nothing short of insane.

Our children deserve protection at all costs, and clearly we have failed them by allowing a very small minority of anti-gun crusaders to run roughshod over the opinion of the majority of Americans. It is a sad state of affairs that will change only when the right to bear arms is returned properly to the American people. When that happens, teachers, parents and administrators will again have the ability to protect children.

The cockroaches come out of the woodwork to blame the pro-gun lobby whenever a spree killing happens, whether at a school, at the mall or at a workplace. But, it is the cockroaches' own policies which disarm law-abiding people making such attacks so easy. They can't make the logical leap required to understand that each time an honest person resists with a gun the net gain to society as a whole is immeasurable.

Criminals are cowards, and if they have to stare down the barrel of a gun, any gun, the next time a criminal plans a crime they will worry about an armed victim.


Americans spoke at the ballot box over the years and are solidly in favor of letting honest people use firearms for self-protection. With an avowed gun-snatcher in the White House, it won't be easy to counter the presidential bully pulpit, but we did it during the Clinton years. President Obama did a good job of hiding his anti-gun ways during the election and fooled millions of gun owners. Now that he is locked into a stance if he changes it gun owners will turn on him – quickly.

Anti-gun crusaders don' believe that guns are ever used in self-defense, and that guns are, by their very existence, pure evil. How an object devoid of thought, feeling or emotions can be evil is beyond the grasp of most Americans. Anti-gun groups are losing support due to their backwards stance on guns, not only has the grassroots deserted them, but large donors as well.


Like a cockroach searching for food, very little can dissuade the anti-gun gangs from their self-appointed duty of disarming honest people. It is our job to exterminate their backwards elitist agenda from the market place of ideas since their favorite line, "if it only saves one life," only applies to victims who refuse to resist with a gun.

If you use a gun and kill your attacker, the anti-gun crusaders equate such an action with a drive-by shooting that kills indiscriminately. Nothing is considered evil in the anti-gun platform, except the gun itself. Blaming an inanimate object, instead of the person wielding the device, takes a certain lack of logical reasoning that many Americans can't wrap their mind around.


That doesn't stop the anti-gunners from pouring out of the woodwork to blame a gun whenever a high-profile murder takes place.

When people see cockroaches pouring from their woodwork it is certainly disconcerting and can ruin an otherwise nice place to live. To combat the infestation a well-known commercial product is often used – the Roach Motel, where roaches check in, but never check out.

Anti-gun crusaders have their version of the Roach Motel – logic.

Once you get an anti-gunner in a debate over gun rights, wait a little while and then throw logic into the equation. They will be trapped because like the Roach Motel, they thought one thing when the debate began, and now you're pulling a bait and switch, leaving them without recourse. You also took away their one recourse when beaten in the marketplace of ideas – the ability to check out.

Success! Tougher Gun Laws In Belgium Preventing Murder, Violence.

As the American liberals say: "It's for the children..."
The new Belgian gun law is Obama and the Democrats wet dream. You can almost hear them having an orgasm while reading it.

In 2006 the Belgian Parliament approved a new gun law. All firearms are banned unless a permit is obtained from the provincial governor. In Belgium since June 2006 nobody is allowed to own a gun or a rifle unless he has a special permission but it is extremely difficult to get one, this includes also hunters. Each gun or rifle is registered and the owner has a file in the police database.

For policemen of course it is different as a gun is part of their work equipment. But this has changed too. Since the passing of the new law, Belgian cops are not allowed anymore to take their guns home; cops are required to leave their service firearms in the locker at the end of the work day.

Thank God for the Socialist government of Belgium passed this law. Children and women are so much more secure when guns are banned:


Knife-wielding man killed two babies and a caregiver;

The suspect who went on a deadly stabbing spree at a Belgian day care center is also thought to have killed an elderly woman 10 days ago and had plans on him to attack two more nurseries, a prosecutor said Monday.

Christian Du Four said police now believe the man they are holding for Friday's day care massacre in Dendermonde may also have stabbed to death a 73-year-old woman who lived nearby on Jan. 16.

"There are very clear indications of links between the murders in Dendermonde and the death of the elderly woman," said Du Four.

Investigators had been unable to find a motive for woman's slaying.

Last Friday, a knife-wielding man killed two babies and a caregiver at the Fairyland day care center in Dendermonde, a town 30 kilometers (18 miles) west of Brussels. He also knife-wielding man killed two babies and a caregiver, in a rampage so bloody it left rescue workers shaken.

Belgium is still trying to come grips with the attack. Day care centers and schools reopened for a new week Monday but many parents were still anxious and many small students cried when they discussed the tragedy.
