He was diagnosed with a large testical and we were advised to remove it and have it sent for testing in the lab. Was prescribed Previcox a couple days pre opp. He had both testicals removed and i was told to continue the Previcox. I stupidly did not look up the side effects and continued to administer post opp. My boy had diarrhoea about 3 or 4 days after taking Previcox. He was drinking loads was dissy and seemed nausious. I stopped the Previcox and he seemed to be getting better so i thought. Unfortunately a couple days later he just led on the floor all day shallow panting. Would not eat. He drank loads of water but shortly after vomited it back up. I can only describe it as a blackish brown slimy substance that looked like coffee granules. We lifted him into the car as he was unable to get up. 1 thing i would like to point out during this whole ordeal his cheeks and his back feet were icy cold and his breathing had become laboured and he was drooling. The vet ran his blood and said he was slightly anemic but not enough to warrent a blood transfusion. The vet gave him 3 injections at 8pm. Tralieve 50MG/ML injection, Prevomax 10MG/ML inj dog Ranitidine Vial 2MLS and sent home still unable to walk or breath properly. Around 2 hour later he was having problems keeping his head up and looked distressed and his breathing became very laboured his head was forward and his front elbows appart. I started to Google and then noticed he became very still i checked his eye lids and his gums they were white. I started cpr as i could clearly feel his heart beat. At the same time calling the emergency oncall vet. He responded slightly to the cpr when i breathed into his nose but unfortunately passed away 10 minutes before the vet arrived. He had a large amount of blood run from his mouth. To recap my dog was on Previcox for around 4 days and prescribed dose as per the vets recomendation. Sadlyd died im my arms while performing cpr i assume he developed stomach ulcers 'Gastroenteritis' possibly had other organ failures as a result of that horrible Previcox. He was cremated and the next day and i collect his remains in a box that i have placed in my front room. I had his soal mate checked over today and she has a urinary tract infection and inner ear infection which the vet gave me a course of antibiotics and ear drops for her ears. I was then asked if i had any Previcox left over from my baby boy to which i said yes and was told to give her 1 every day for the next 6 days. I was about to admisiter the Previcox but decided to Google and stumbled on this blog to which i owe her life. The Previcox has been flushed down the loo. Thank you so much for this site..... sad and gutted for anyone that has lost a loving pet/family member due to the disgusting Previcox. This drug has done more damage to people and there loving pets than good it needs to be removed from the market. Love and hugs to all owners that have lost or are currently trying to save there loved ones. xxxAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03931815875945059669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4369624442804261813.post-8733740015049858402018-12-06T02:36:27.062-08:002018-12-06T02:36:27.062-08:00My 5.5 yo Rotty was prescribed Previcox. I am absolutely ...Previcox has killed my dog also.

I am absolutely devastated.

I received his medical records yesterday morning, and upon going through them I now realise that his symptoms only began after taking this vile drug.

He was given Previcox after both his cruciate ligaments were torn and after much hydrotherapy it was decided to help him manage the pain as he was suffering back pain also from the cruciate damage.

He started Previcox in October 2017. In December 2017 he suffered diarrhoea and vomiting and it was diagnosed as acute gastroenteritis. He was given antibiotics and told to stop taking the Previcox until he got back to normal. Bloods were taken and his UREA and AKLP levels were high, but the Previcox was not advised to stop being taken. Of course he did get back to normal, but I now realise this is because I stopped the Previcox. Re-started the Previcox after his 'illness'. April 2018, he suffered his first ever grand mal seizure whilst also being diagnosed, again, as having gastroenteritis. Meanwhile his bloods were being taken every 3 months to check the levels because of taking Previcox. It was mentioned that his urea levels were high, but they didn't seem to have too much cause for concern over this as he was an elderly dog. (Cairn Terrier, 14 years old I failed to add). Same as before, more antibiotics for the 'Gastroenteritis' and they did offer skull xrays amongst other tests, but I declined as I couldn't see any behavioural changes and I thought it was unlikely it was anything to do with his brain. He was twitching a lot daily, and he seemed to be not so happy in life, but I put this down to pain and generally getting older. HOW WRONG I WAS!

He suffered 2 seizures in a week again a couple of months later.

3 weeks ago he started vomiting and had the occasional diarrohea. They diagnosed yet again, suspected 'Gastroenteritis'. More antibiotics and pardale given and told to stop the Previcox.

It was too late.

Sunday just gone, he suffered two Grand Mal seizures within 10 hours. I refused to let my dog suffer anymore. I had to make the hardest decision of my life and have him put to sleep.

I looked at his bloods that were done Friday before, and his liver enzyme levels were hugely raised, along with SDMA, UREA amongst others were high.

I cannot stress highly enough to ANYONE who is about to give their dog Previcox. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG THIS DRUG! IT KILLS!

I feel so guilty for not realising this and I have failed my poor dog. He didn't deserve to die that way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4369624442804261813.post-78486323686652889512018-09-28T08:26:06.059-07:002018-09-28T08:26:06.059-07:00Well, surprise!

Previcox works for my dog. It has been working for 2.5 years. My caution is to make sure that you are using the minimum dose needed and do everything you can to stop your dog jumping, standing to beg, and running fast. My dog now has its own lounge with a stairway of firm cushions to get on the lounge. My dog is now 12.5 years old. When Previcox is no longer works at any dosage I will put my dog down. Every dog is different. I have gone to the trouble of making this comment to present another side of the picture.
