Damn those Islamophobic bigots opposing mosque building...

...in Spain:

60 Mosques on Hold Because of Popular Protests

(ANSAmed) — MADRID, SEPTEMBER 13 — Between 1995 and 2008 the construction of approximately 60 mosques has been put on hold or postponed indefinitely because of protests people living in the interested Municipalities, according to a report by professor Jordi Moreras, of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona.
Well, maybe the French are more tolerant?
I would think so, since most American liberals are looking at the Gauls as an cultured, tolerant socialist people.

Uhh...no:

French Senate Passes Ban of Full Muslim Veils

PARIS — The French Senate has voted overwhelmingly for a bill banning the burqa-style Islamic veil everywhere from post offices to streets, in a final step toward a making it law.

The Senate voted 246 to 1 Tuesday in favor of the bill, which has already passed in the lower chamber, the National Assembly.

Any dissenters have 10 days to challenge the measure in the Constitutional Council watchdog, but that is considered unlikely.
But how about our neighbors the Canadians?
They surely aren't as bigoted and Islamophobic as we Americans are. After all, every other Hollywood liberal threatened to move to Canada when Bush won his second term.

Oh, but what a disappointment:

Fidel Castro: Cuban model no longer works

HAVANA (Reuters) Fidel Castro said Cuba's economic model no longer works, a U.S.-based journalist reported on Wednesday following interviews with the former president last week.

Jeffrey Goldberg, a writer for the Atlantic Monthly magazine, wrote in a blog that he asked Castro, 84, if Cuba's model — Soviet-style communism — was still worth exporting to other countries and he replied, "The Cuban model doesn't even work for us anymore."
After reading Castro's interview Obama blurted: "That would have been useful information 19 months ago! Thanks for nothing Comrade!"
