Can Any Leftist Who Believes In Gun Control Answer This Question?

When the first amendment says "the people" have a right to assemble it means all the people and not just government-sanctioned organizations. Right?

When the fourth amendment says "the people" are not to be subjected to unreasonable search and seizure, that means all the people and not just whomever the government decides. Right?

When the fifth amendment says "no person" shall be put into double jeopardy or be forced to testify against himself, "person" means everyone and not just whomever the government decides. Right?

When the eighth amendment says cruel and unusual punishment shall not be inflicted, that applies to everyone and not just whomever the government decides. Right?

So why, when the second amendment says "the people" have the right to keep and bear arms do some people (mostly on the left) think it's meant to apply only to the people whom the government selects?

Video: Fred rips Obama a new one

This one fresh from Michelle Malkin's blog:

From last night’s H&C. It ran too long to cut the whole thing so consult the
transcript if you want to read him touting McCain and acknowledging the painful
reality of which we’re all already aware as regards the fire in his belly. But
here’s the reddest red meat: FT on the vice presidency and Obama. Needless to
say, he doesn’t think much of either one. Nice to see a prominent Republican
“troubled” by Obama’s associations, though, especially with Maverick in such a
lather over that NC GOP ad. Hannity should have asked Fred whether he’d have run it.

Michelle Obama's Name Removed from Terrorist Fundraiser's Web Page - Update: Terror Fundraiser's Page Disappears!

The Airbrushing Continues

It was only a few days ago that someone noticed that Barack Obama's campaign website had a page up for Hatem El-Hady, former chairman of the Toledo-based Islamic charity Kindhearts. That group was closed by the US government in 2006 for financing terrorism. Specifically, the group was financing Hamas.
Among Hady's friends? Michelle Obama. Well, someone finally noticed this glaring and risible relationship, and removed Obama's link. Still, Hady's page remained, until a short time ago.It too has been removed. Airbrushed.

FALLEN ART featuring Fanfara Din Zece Prajini

"Fallen Art" is a genial short animated film supported by music of the Gipsy band Fanfare Ciocarlia (aka Fanfara Din Zece Prajini).

Worth watching, I nearly suffocated laughing!!!

The Patton of Counterinsurgency

With a sequence of brilliant offensives, Raymond Odierno adapted the Petraeus doctrine into a successful operational art.

by Frederick W. Kagan and Kimberly Kagan

-------------------
Lieutenant General Raymond Odierno took command of Multi-National Corps-Iraq (MNC-I) on December 14, 2006. Iraq was in flames. Insurgents and death squads were killing 3,000 civilians a month. Coalition forces were sustaining more than 1,200 attacks per week. Operation Together Forward II, the 2006 campaign to clear Baghdad's most
violent neighborhoods and hold them with Iraqi Security Forces, had been suspended because violence elsewhere in the capital was rising steeply. Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) owned safe havens within and around Baghdad, throughout Anbar, and in Diyala, Salah-ad-Din, and Ninewa provinces. The Iraqi government was completely paralyzed.

When General Odierno relinquished command of MNC-I on February 14, 2008, the civil war was over. Civilian casualties were down 60 percent, as were weekly attacks. AQI had been driven from its safe havens in and around Baghdad and throughout Anbar and Diyala and was attempting to reconstitute for a "last stand" in Mosul--with Coalition and Iraqi forces in pursuit. The Council of Representatives passed laws addressing de-Baathification, amnesty, provincial powers, and setting a date for provincial elections. The situation in Iraq had been utterly transformed.

And Now For Something Addictive:

Legendary drummer Ovidiu Lipan "Tzandarica" from the progressive rock band Transsylvania Phoenix in a piece that is both, exotic and addictive. The brass band playing accompanying Tzandarica is called Fanfara Din Zece Prajini (The Brass Band From Ten Long Sticks Village) and it is the world's foremost Gypsy brass band. They have gone on to create a furious Balkan funk that has set the planet dancing... Balkan sound 100%. Enjoy.

Amazing sound.

Video: Shocking Facts About Hussein Many People Don’t Know

http://patdollard.com/2008/04/shocking-facts-about-hussein-many-people-dont-know/

A brief history of what has been called "The Right Arm Of The Free World"...

...and a heart attack for gungrabbing idiots like Hillary and Obama.

Dear liberals who are reading this blog: despite the looks this isn't a dreaded "assault" weapon so you do not have to wet your pants.

Assault weapons can fire multiple rounds of ammunition with a single trigger pull. This one can only fire one round of ammunition for every trigger pull, just like a regular semiautomatic pistol or hunting rifle. The ammunition magazine has a capacity limit of 10 rounds and it is permanently fixed (non removable).

In the picture: the civilian version (semiautomatic only) Federal and California law compliant FAL pattern rifle.

FAL: Fusil Automatique Legere.
Invented in 1951 by Dieudonne Saive at Fabrique Nationale Herstal in Belgium.

Because of its prevalence and widespread use among the armed forces of many Western and other non-Communist countries during the Cold War, it was nicknamed "the right arm of the Free World".

The FN FAL (Fusil Automatique Leger - Light Automatic Rifle) is one of the most famous and widespread military rifle designs of the XX century. It was used by some 70 or even more countries, and was manufactured in at least 10 countries.. While no production numbers are known, it is estimated that FAL production (in all of its variants) has exceeded 1,000,000 units.

The FN FAL is a gas operated, selective fire or semi-automatic only (in the civilian version), magazine fed rifle. It uses short piston stroke gas system with gas piston located above the barrel and having its own return spring. After the shot is fired, the gas piston makes a quick tap to the bolt carrier and then returns back, and the rest of the reloading cycle is commenced by the inertia of bolt group.
The gas system is fitted with gas regulator so it could be easily adjusted for various environment conditions, or cut off completely so rifle grenades could be safely launched from the barrel. The locking system uses bolt carrier with separate bolt that locks the barrel by tipping its rear part into the recess in the receiver floor.
The receivers initially were machined from the forged steel blocks, and in 1973 FN began to manufacture investment cast receivers to decrease production costs. Many manufactures, however, stuck to the machined receivers.
The trigger housing with pistol grip is hinged to the receiver behind the magazine well and could be swung down to open action for maintenance and disassembly.
The recoil spring is housed in the butt of the rifle in fixed butt configurations or in the receiver cover in folding butt configurations, so the folding butt versions require a slightly different bolt carrier, receiver cover and a recoils spring.
The cocking handle is located at the left side of the receiver and does not move when gun is fired. It could be folding or non-folding, depending on the country of origin.
The safety - fire selector switch is located at the trigger housing, above the triggerguard. It can have two (on semi-automatic - civilian versions) or three (on select-fire rifles military versions) positions.
The firing mechanism is hammer fired and use single sear for both semi-automatic or full automatic fire.
Barrel is equipped with long flash hider which also serves as a rifle grenade launcher. Design of flash hider may differs slightly from country to country.
The furniture of the FAL also can differ - it could be made from wood, plastic of various colors or metal (folding buttstocks, metallic handguards on some models). Some models, such as Austrian Stg.58 or Brazilian LAR were fitted with light bipods as a standard. Almost all heavy barrel versions also were fitted with bipods of various design.
Sights usually are of hooded post front and adjustable diopter rear types, but can differ in details and markings. Almost all FAL rifles are equipped with sling swivels and most of rifles are fitted with bayonet lugs.

Phil Chapman April 23, 2008

THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.
What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.
Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.
All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.
There is also plenty of anecdotal evidence that 2007 was exceptionally cold. It snowed in Baghdad for the first time in centuries, the winter in China was simply terrible and the extent of Antarctic sea ice in the austral winter was the greatest on record since James Cook discovered the place in 1770.
It is generally not possible to draw conclusions about climatic trends from events in a single year, so I would normally dismiss this cold snap as transient, pending what happens in the next few years.
This is where SOHO comes in. The sunspot number follows a cycle of somewhat variable length, averaging 11 years. The most recent minimum was in March last year. The new cycle, No.24, was supposed to start soon after that, with a gradual build-up in sunspot numbers.
It didn't happen. The first sunspot appeared in January this year and lasted only two days. A tiny spot appeared last Monday but vanished within 24 hours. Another little spot appeared this Monday. Pray that there will be many more, and soon.
The reason this matters is that there is a close correlation between variations in the sunspot cycle and Earth's climate. The previous time a cycle was delayed like this was in the Dalton Minimum, an especially cold period that lasted several decades from 1790.
Northern winters became ferocious: in particular, the rout of Napoleon's Grand Army during the retreat from Moscow in 1812 was at least partly due to the lack of sunspots.
That the rapid temperature decline in 2007 coincided with the failure of cycle No.24 to begin on schedule is not proof of a causal connection but it is cause for concern.
It is time to put aside the global warming dogma, at least to begin contingency planning about what to do if we are moving into another little ice age, similar to the one that lasted from 1100 to 1850.
There is no doubt that the next little ice age would be much worse than the previous one and much more harmful than anything warming may do. There are many more people now and we have become dependent on a few temperate agricultural areas, especially in the US and Canada. Global warming would increase agricultural output, but global cooling will decrease it.
Millions will starve if we do nothing to prepare for it (such as planning changes in agriculture to
compensate), and millions more will die from cold-related diseases.

There is also another possibility, remote but much more serious. The Greenland and Antarctic ice cores and other evidence show that for the past several million years, severe glaciation has almost always afflicted our planet.
The bleak truth is that, under normal conditions, most of North America and Europe are buried under about 1.5km of ice. This bitterly frigid climate is interrupted occasionally by brief warm interglacials, typically lasting less than 10,000 years.
The interglacial we have enjoyed throughout recorded human history, called the Holocene, began 11,000 years ago, so the ice is overdue. We also know that glaciation can occur quickly: the required decline in global temperature is about 12C and it can happen in 20 years.
The next descent into an ice age is inevitable but may not happen for another 1000 years. On the other hand, it must be noted that the cooling in 2007 was even faster than in typical glacial transitions. If it continued for 20 years, the temperature would be 14C cooler in 2027.
By then, most of the advanced nations would have ceased to exist, vanishing under the ice, and the rest of the world would be faced with a catastrophe beyond imagining.
Australia may escape total annihilation but would surely be overrun by millions of refugees. Once the glaciation starts, it will last 1000 centuries, an incomprehensible stretch of time.
If the ice age is coming, there is a small chance that we could prevent or at least delay the transition, if we are prepared to take action soon enough and on a large enough scale.
For example: We could gather all the bulldozers in the world and use them to dirty the snow in Canada and Siberia in the hope of reducing the reflectance so as to absorb more warmth from the sun.
We also may be able to release enormous floods of methane (a potent greenhouse gas) from the hydrates under the Arctic permafrost and on the continental shelves, perhaps using nuclear weapons to destabilise the deposits.
We cannot really know, but my guess is that the odds are at least 50-50 that we will see significant cooling rather than warming in coming decades.
The probability that we are witnessing the onset of a real ice age is much less, perhaps one in 500, but not totally negligible.
All those urging action to curb global warming need to take off the blinkers and give some thought to what we should do if we are facing global cooling instead.
It will be difficult for people to face the truth when their reputations, careers, government grants or hopes for social change depend on global warming, but the fate of civilisation may be at stake.
In the famous words of Oliver Cromwell, "I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken."

Obama voted against protecting a gun owner

The Big 0

As Sen. Barack Obama[D-IL] stumbles towards the tantalizing goal of being the Democrat's Presidential candidate, it seems he can not keep from tripping himself. He went to a diner for a meet&greet at breakfast, when a reporter asked him a question Obama whined about why he can't eat his waffle.

Him eating a waffle seems so appropriate as the following story gleamed from the May 2008 issue of the NRA's American Rifleman points out.

Lets flash back to December 2003 in the town of Wilmette. There a gentleman named Hale DeMar was safely in his house with his family on the night of the 28th when a serial thug broke into the household and proceeded to steal what he could, including the house keys and DeMar's SUV. Eventualy the police showed up after the thief had fled. Next night the thief returned and used the house keys to get in. The house alarm system went off. Hale had also pulled out of his safe a legally bought handgun, fearing for his children, confronted and shot the burglar who then fled. The crook was arrested at a hospital where he had driven DeMar's stolen SUV, naturally he had a very long criminal record. Cook County eventually said DeMar's use of a firearm was justifiable, but the township of Wilmette felt differently. DeMar, by owning that handgun, violated Wilmette's ban and they took DeMar to court as a danger to the community.

The hue and cry was heard all the way to the state capitol where Barack Obama was a state senator. The Illinois House and Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill that would protect such people as DeMar from carpicious punishment when using a handgun in self-defense. The vote in the Senate was 38 yeas to 20 naes. Obama was one of the naes. When the governor vetoed the bill, Obama voted to support the governor's veto. The House and Senate of Illinois overrode the veto and that law is now in force.

Sen. Barack Obama[D-IL] has an anti-gun track record that belies his silver-tongued use of the phrase 'common sense gun safety.' Tell me Sen. Obama, what do you consider common sense? Judging by your votes to punish Hale DeMar for defending his family, your idea does not match mine. Now get your stinking mitts off my guns as they are protected by the Second Amendment. In fact, go eat that waffle and stuff your face so I don't have to hear you lie again.

Lenin Was A Bastard

So what, everyone knows that!

No, really. Lenin was a bastard child, according to a TV documentary movie that will premiere tonight on REN TV, a Russian Cable News network. The movie will be released on the eve of the birthday of the founder of the Communist Empire.

The movie is called "A Leader Difficult To Work With" and according to Komsomolskaia Pravda newspaper it will reveal something that will break the hearts of leftists and communist nostalgics all around the world .

During the communist era the Ulianov family in which Lenin was born was represented as a model family. The father, Ilia Ulianov, was the director of the public school district in Simbirsk region, a respected man and a role model for his kids and students. According to Akim Arutiunov, Lenin's biographical researcher, the greater mistery of Lenin's life is related to his birth , because there is mounting evidence showing than not Ilia Nikolaevici Ulianov was Lenin's natural father, but the family doctor, a man named Vladimir Ivanovici Ulianov .

A graduation diploma given to Lenin upon his graduation from the Imperal University of Sankt Petersburg is still preserved at the Central History Musem in Moscow. On that diploma Lenin's name is written as Vladimir Ivanovich Ulianov. The middle name "Ivanovich" was crossed with a line and above the line somebody wrote "Ilici". Akim Arutiunov considers that the modification on the graduation diploma was made by one of Lenin's succesors who tried to whitewash Lenin's biography. Akim stronglly denies the possibility of a simple mistake because there is no evidence Lenin ever returned to his school to ask for a correction on his diploma and the official records.

The misterious Ivan considered as his natural father, was in fact the Ulianov's family doctor. Arutiunov claims there is solid evidence that the good doctor Ivan was fooling around with Maria Ulianova, Lenin's mother for years.

What do you know...another mistery solved. This gives a whole new meaning to the term "communist bastard"

Ollie North Mops The Floor With Dhimmi Carter

Citizen Carter's ego trip
April 20, 2008 By Oliver North

- Your strength can compensate for my weakness, and your wisdom can help to minimize my mistakes. — Jimmy Carter, Inaugural Address, Jan. 20, 1977

More than 31 years after he uttered those words, America is still trying to compensate for and minimize Mr. Carter's mistakes and weaknesses — the greatest of which appears to be hubris. This week, our much-traveled 39th president ventured as a "private citizen" to the Middle East on a self-described mission "exploring possibilities for peace." Regrettably, what citizen Mr. Carter has succeeded in doing is to encourage our nation's adversaries, lend credibility to terrorists who have killed our countrymen and disparaged a beleaguered ally.

The rest of the article can be read here: http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20080420/COMMENTARY06/694546727/1012/COMMENTARY

Dhimmi Carter and his friends:

Is there a terrorist leader or communist dictator thug Dhimmi Carter didn't kissed on both cheeks?
I bet you $1,000.000 if Carter would know the location where Osama Bin Latrine is hiding, he would go there and kiss his feet while apologizing and trying to explain that not all Americans are on the side of the Zionist jewish dogs.

Trailer here:

Two thumbs up, go see it.

Do not fall for the trash Hollyweird movie "critics" are piling up on this screen gem, this isn't a movie about retrograd fundamentalist Christians whining against enlightened scientists.

It is a movie about freedom Vs. totaliarism; free speech Vs. censorship; dogma Vs. free tought.

Go see it, you won't be sorry.

P.S.

Oh, and by the way...if by any chance you are calling yourself an "enlightened" Darwinian atheist, then I suppose you should be familiar with the BIG-BANG theory of the Universe creation, right?

Well, in this case you should also know who this man was:

Oh no, not a priest! Go away with your superstitions. What can be more anti-science than the Catholic dogma and what's this priest has to do with the BIG-BANG theory?

Well, the name of this priest is Georges Lemaitre.
Catholic priest, astronomer, scientist and proposer of the theory of "primeval atom" and "continuous Universe expansion"

Primeval atom. Universe expanison.

It's what is known today to science as the...
BIG BANG theory.

So how come a priest indoctrinated in religion and a believer in a God that doesn't exist came up with this?

I invite the Darwinian atheist readers to come up with another theory explaining why...

American Hunters and Shooters Association

Or maybe they should be called "American Phoney Gunowners Association"?

A few facts about American Hunters and Shooters Association or AHSA, a phoney gun-control, Second Amendment abolitionist group who is posing as a legitimate gun owner organization but endorses the most anti-gun candidate of the three remaining in the race: Barak Obama.

Oh...and did I mentioned AHSA stinks high heaven of George Soros money and employs the same deceitful tactics Soros funded groups are known for?

Here is a lengthy but well documented article about these AHSA clowns:

History - It Is Pretty Short

The huntersandshooters.com website was licensed April 25, 2005. The majority of the site seems to have been written in June 2005. So they are new.
The licensing company is DCS Congressional.

Update: August 7, 2005 - As of August 3,2005 the registration information for huntersandshooters.com has been updated to reflect the AHSA as the owner of the site name. There is no change in the blatant anti-gun rights positions expressed on the site.

Who Is DCS?

They are a collection of Democratic operatives that have worked for some of the country's leading gun grabbers.
Gerry Kavanaugh - President

From the AHSA website:
... a close advisor to the John Edwards for President campaign. Prior to working for John Edwards, he was the Policy Director for the Democratic National Committee. Mr. Kavanaugh served as Senator Edward M. Kennedy's Chief of Staff and worked with him through both his 1994 and 2000 re-elections.

David Bonior - Founding Principal
Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976 serving for 26 years. A reliable voter for gun control.

What DCS Says About Itself?
From What We Do:
DCS utilizes cutting edge technology to create a winning Internet strategy for elected officials, campaigns and organizations. Our experienced political and Internet team will work directly with campaigns, political organizations, and their strategic partners to develop a plan that combines creative, research-driven messages with aggressive online advocacy. We will work with your fundraising, press and issue teams in their earliest stages to develop effective Internet strategies, full media plans, and fundraising strategies that can be turned into potent and powerful solutions.
My favorite part is: "research-driven messages". What they are really saying is that they find out what you want to hear so that their client can tell you that.

Who Does DCS Work For?
From Clients:
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)
Congressman John Conyers (D-MI)
Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-CO)
Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI)
Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA)

This is a who's-who of gun grabbers. They also list a slew of other Congressman. Every Congressman that DCS lists is a Democrat. That should tell us something.

AHSA Stated Goals

On the Who We Are of the website you will find the following:
According to a 2003 Field & Stream National Hunting Survey, sportsmen overwhelmingly support reasonable gun safety proposals. Moreover, an overwhelming majority of hunters support proposals like background checks to purchase guns, keeping military style assault weapons off our streets and the elimination of cop killer bullets. In recent years, extreme political positions purporting to support gun rights have jeopardized our sport and have hurt the image of responsible gun owners. Unless the sporting community can become unified behind an organization that fights for safe and responsible hunting and shooting practices and sensible gun ownership, future generations may be unable to participate in and enjoy the shooting sports.
So, they support renewing an Assault Weapons Ban and the elimination of Cop Killer Bullets. Clarity is achieved.
In reality, the Cop Killer Bullet issue is an invention of Senator Kennedy and a series of bills and amendments he has proposed over the years. See Senate Amendment 1615 and Senate Amendment 2619. He attempts to confuse people about the differences between body armor, which protects people, and armor piercing ammunition, which is designed to penetrate vehicle armor plating. Even the Fraternal Order of Police says that
The truth of the matter is that only one law enforcement officer has been killed by a round fired from a handgun which penetrated his soft body armor--and in that single instance, it was the body armor that failed to provide the expected ballistic protection, not because the round was "armor piercing."It is our view that no expansion or revision of the current law is needed to protect law enforcement officers. To put it simply, this is not a genuine officer safety issue.

How Are They Being Used
Already the Citizens for a Safe Minnesota is trumpeting the AHSA organization (as if it really was) saying that 'Sportsmen fed up with the NRA'.

Final Analysis
This group is a gun control advocacy group that is masquerading as a gun rights group. There is every indication that they are a suborganization of the Democratic party. They are even in the same building as the Democratic Leadership Council. They will be happy to take money from gullible gun owners and use it against them and us.
The real goal is to fracture the power of the NRA before the next presidential election so the Democrats face a less formidable opponent.
In no way is the gun rights block a monolithic voting block. Some will love this group; some will be deceived by it. Make no mistake. They are the enemy of the Constitution.

And Now For A Little Infidel Rock

BABA NOVAK
Music & Lyrics: Transsylvania Phoenix

"The mighty Sultan's Army
From Constantionopole
Comes marching to rob and enslave

They come from South into our homeland
Across the border

The muslims come to take their toll
Big turbans covering their heads
Their eyes shine like gold coins
Greedy and ignorant eyes

Holy war! cries the Prophet
Slain the infidel!

Make the sign of the cross, my Christian brother.
Learn what your destiny is,
And in the deep forest take refuge

Holy Mother of Christ,
Lord Jesus!
From the sunset a cloud of dust is rising

It's the merry gang of Baba Novak.

Their horses are flying
They ride on the horses of death

Naked and and panicked, under attack the muslims are -my Christian brothers!
The turks are running losing their shoes

The death is coming upon them
Seven are the men who puts them on the run, and with them is Baba Novak

Naked and and panicked under attack the muslims are -my Christian brothers!
The turks are running for their lives, losing the shoes from their feet

The death is coming upon them
Seven are the men who puts them on the run, and with them is Baba Novak

Seven like in Tabernacle, the holy Seven

Sultan's sons dug their father's grave,
With enough spare room to fit his green turban inside

Their horses fall, the dirt is red with blood, their teeth are knocked out of their mouth
Their eye sockets are empty and cannot see the sky, under the night's dark bed.

Their horses are flying
They ride on the horses of death

Naked and and panicked, my Christian brothers
The turks are running losing their shoes
The death is coming upon them

Seven are the men who puts them on the run, and with them is Baba Novak"

Obama board funded gun control efforts

From POLITICO:

"Barack Obama’s presidential campaign has worked to assure uneasy gun owners that he believes the Constitution protects their rights and that he doesn’t want to take away their guns. But before he became a national political figure, he sat on the board of a Chicago-based foundation that doled out at least nine grants totaling nearly $2.7 million to groups that advocated the opposite positions. The foundation funded legal scholarship advancing the theory that the Second Amendment does not protect individual gun owners’ rights, as well as two groups that advocated handgun bans. And it paid to support a book called “Every Handgun Is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning Handguns.”

Obama and Gun Control. No One May Sell Guns Or Ammo In USA

This man is a loon, pure and simple. He and his wife are revolutionaries that seek to rid America of whites, guns, capitalism, military, corporations, law enforcement, and the middle class.

Quote from the article:

However, having the right to arms and the liberty to hunt is worthless if you can't buy a gun. In 1999, Mr. Obama urged enactment of a federal law prohibiting the operation of any gun store within five miles of a school or park. This would eliminate gun stores from almost the entire inhabited portion of the United States.
As a state senate candidate in 1996, Mr. Obama endorsed a complete ban on all handguns in a questionnaire. The Obama campaign has claimed he "never saw or approved the questionnaire," and that an aide filled it out incorrectly. But a few weeks ago, Politico.com found an amended version of the questionnaire. It included material added in Mr. Obama's handwriting.
When the U.S. Supreme Court voted last year to hear a case on the constitutionality of the Washington, D.C., handgun ban, Mr. Obama's campaign told the Chicago Tribune: "Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional" and that "local communities" should have the ability "to enact common sense laws." Other than Washington, D.C., the only American cities with handgun bans are Chicago and four of its suburbs. As a state senator, Mr. Obama voted against a 2004 bill (which passed overwhelmingly) to give citizens a legal defense against prosecution for violating a local handgun ban if they actually used the firearm for lawful self-defense on their own property.

Barack Obama on Gun Control- His Answers

This Obama guy is scary...

Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities

Q: How would you address gun violence that continues to be the #1 cause of death among African-American men?

Barak: You know, when the massacre happened at Virginia Tech, I think all of us were grief stricken and shocked by the carnage. But in this year alone, in Chicago, we've had 34 Chicago public school students gunned down and killed. And for the most part, there has been silence. We know what to do. We've got to enforce the gun laws that are on the books. We've got to make sure that unscrupulous gun dealers aren't loading up vans and dumping guns in our communities, because we know they're not made in our communities. There aren't any gun manufacturers here, right here in the middle of Detroit. But what we also have to do is to make sure that we change our politics so that we care just as much about those 30-some children in Chicago who've been shot as we do the children in Virginia Tech. That's a mindset that we have to have in the White House and we don't have it right now.

Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality

Barak: I believe in keeping guns out of our inner cities, and that our leaders must say so in the face of the gun manfuacturer's lobby. But I also believe that when a gang banger shoots indiscriminately into a crowd because he feels someone disrespected him, we have a problem of morality. Not only do we need to punish that man for his crime, but we need to acknowledge that there's a hole in his heart, one that government programs alone may not be able to repair.

Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions

Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:

Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Source: 1998 IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998

Barak Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others.

Voting YES would:
Exempt lawsuits brought against individuals who knowingly transfer a firearm that will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime
Exempt lawsuits against actions that result in death, physical injury or property damage due solely to a product defect
Call for the dismissal of all qualified civil liability actions pending on the date of enactment by the court in which the action was brought
Prohibit the manufacture, import, sale or delivery of armor piercing ammunition, and sets a minimum prison term of 15 years for violations
Require all licensed importers, manufacturers and dealers who engage in the transfer of handguns to provide secure gun storage or safety devices

Hey Barak!

Since you're getting ready to discard the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, please let us know when you're planning to get rid of the 1st Amendment too...

Afterall, when WE THE PEOPLE will lose the right to keep and bear the tools defending our freedom of speech, what's stopping you to take away that too?

Mark Steyn: Guns and God? Hell, yes

Obama attacks two of the things that elevate the U.S. above places like Europe

Quote:

Europeans did "vote for their own best interests" – i.e., cradle-to-grave welfare, 35-hour workweeks, six weeks of paid vacation, etc. – and as a result they now face a perfect storm of unsustainable entitlements, economic stagnation and declining human capital that's left them so demographically beholden to unassimilable levels of immigration that they're being remorselessly Islamized with every passing day. We should thank God (forgive the expression) that America's loser gun nuts don't share the same sophisticated rational calculation of "their best interests" as do Thomas Frank, Obama, too many Democrats and the European political establishment.

As for "gun-totin'," large numbers of Americans tote guns because they're assertive, self-reliant citizens, not docile subjects of a permanent governing class. The Second Amendment is philosophically consistent with the First Amendment, for which I've become more grateful since the Canadian Islamic Congress decided to sue me for "hate speech" up north. Both amendments embody the American view that liberty is not the gift of the state, and its defense cannot be outsourced exclusively to the government.

Dedicated to the best Romanian rock band of all times

Transsylvania Phoenix or, more commonly, just Phoenix, is one of the most prominent Romanian Rock and Roll bands of the latest decades, and also the first one to take musical inspiration from ancient Romanian folk themes.
Formed in the 1960s, it began by doing covers of Beatles songs. However, they soon had to change their style since the Romanian communist regime disliked any form of western culture. The communist regime suggested that all rock oriented bands should look for inspiration within the Romanian culture. These restrictions made the band's leader Nicolae Covaci search within the Romanian folklore, which gave them a unique sound.

The beginning

Mugur de Fluier LP cover- 1974

Phoenix was launched in the cosmopolitan town of Timişoara in 1962 by a pair of schoolboys: Nicu Covaci and Béla Kamocsa, under the name of Sfinţii (The Saints). In their first years, together with Florin "Moni" Bordeianu (born 1948), they performed in school contests and at local clubs, covering Western music hits from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Who, etc., and they quickly became very popular amongst the youth. In 1965 the Communist authorities demanded that the band stop performing under the name The Saints, because of the religious innuendo that the name carried. Forced to comply, the band took the name Phoenix. Nicu Covaci also changed the composition of the band, around 1963, by adding Claudiu Rotaru, Ioan "Pilu" Ştefanovici (born 1946) and Günther "Spitzly" Reininger (born 1950) to the lineup.
For the next couple of years the student band was popular in Timişoara's clubs and teen dorms, performing western songs originally by bands such as The Beatles, The Kinks, The Animals, and The Rolling Stones.

In 1965 they had their first big concert in Bucharest. Their performance brought a collaboration with Cornel Chiriac to record some of their songs. The first songs they recorded were "Ştiu cǎ mǎ iubesti şi tu" ("I Know You Love Me Too"), "Dunăre, Dunăre" ("Danube, Danube") and "Bun e vinul ghiurghiuliu" ("Good is the Red Wine"). The same year also marked the beginning of their collaboration with Victor Cârcu, who went on to write many of their most famous songs, such as "Vremuri" ("Old Times"), "Şi totuşi ca voi sunt" ("And Yet I Am Like You"), "Nebunul cu ochii închişi" ("Crazy Man with closed eyes"), "Floarea stâncilor" ("Mountain Flower") and "Canarul" ("Canary").
In December 1967 Phoenix had their first major series of concerts in many western cities, capped off by two huge concerts in Timişoara. After winning a few prizes in national students' contests, held at Iaşi the following year, in 1968 they recorded their first EP, Vremuri (Old Times), containing two original songs, Vremuri and Canarul (The Canary), and two covers (Lady Madonna - The Beatles and Friday on my Mind - Easybeats). A second EP would follow one year later, named Floarea stâncilor (The Flower of the Rocks), with all four songs being original compositions. Both albums sport a sound reminiscent of the beat style popular in that era.
They then started working on a rock theater play "Omul 36/80" (The Man 36/80) which won several prizes for originality.
In 1969 Ioan "Pilu" Ştefanovici was replaced by Dorel "Baba" Vintilă Zaharia (born 1943). For the next year the band became more and more popular, frequently visiting Bucharest and being invited in talk shows about music.
In 1970, Moni Bordeianu emigrated to the US, and, for a brief period of time the band suspended its activity, also due to total censorship that followed a protesting speech held by Bordeianu in his last concert. 1970 ment the blues period of the band. The formula used was Nicu Covaci - guitar, Günther "Spitzly" Reininger - piano and voice, Zoltan Covacs - bass guitar and Liviu Butoi - oboe and flute. Phoenix was born again the next year, with Covaci, Josef Kappl, Mircea Baniciu, Costin Petrescu (replaced in 1974 by Ovidiu Lipan, nicknamed "Ţăndărică") and Valeriu Sepi.

But the Communist officials were not very comfortable with the Western-style music that they were singing, and kept creating them problems. So Phoenix abandoned beat turned to Romanian folklore, pagan rituals, mystic animals and old traditions. In this same year, Phoenix started a collaboration with the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore and the Folklore section of Timişoara University on an ambitious project, a rock poem that combined traditional wooden instruments with modern sounds. During this project the band also started collaborating with Valeriu Sepi (born 1947), who eventually joined the band. The first outcome would be the 1972 LP Cei ce ne-au dat nume (Those Who Gave Us Our Names) - the first LP to be recorded in Romania by a Romanian band. Two years later, Mugur de fluier (Flute Bud) followed. Both albums underwent severe censorship.

In 1973 Phoenix represented Romania at the "Golden harp" festival in Bratislava (Slovakia) and then in the "Disc festival" in Sopot (Poland). Also, they wanted to record a new rock-opera, named "Meşterul Manole", but the communist officials censored it all, by "losing" the unique book with costume sketches and lyrics given to them for official approval. The result was only a EP with an extract from the opera, Meşterul Manole, uvertură (Meşterul Manole, uverture) and two older songs, Mamă, Mamă (Mother, Mother) and Te întreb pe tine, soare... (I'm asking you, sun...).

On Monday, 19 November 1973, Phoenix held a memorable concert in Bucharest, presenting their new hits "Andri Popa", "Pavel Chinezu" and "Strunga", which composed the new disc "Mugur de fluier". The new songs were still influenced by folklore yet had a new style. This style was the result of the collaboration with new songwriters Andrei Ujică and Şerban Foarţă. Based on those new songs Nicu Covaci created a new show "Introducere la un concert despre muzica veche la români" ("Introduction to a concert about old Romanian music") in which he introduced violins, flutes, archaic percussion and other traditional instruments. The show was never finished due to a new collaboration with "Cenaclul Flacăra." This period is considered the peak for Phoenix. Their sound was considered original and powerful and full stadiums were common for their concerts.

Every winter the members of the band would retreat to Mount Semenic and plan their upcoming songs. That winter the show "Zoosophia", a title that would later change to "Cantafabule", was created. The show began by "calling" all mythic animals and continued by dedicating a song to each of them, finishing with the Phoenix, the band's symbol. The year 1975 brought a newcomer to the band, Ovidiu Lipan "Ţăndărică" (born 1953). The "Cantafabule" show was first presented in Timişoara in February 1975. The disc was recorded in a very short time and was published the same year with a misspelling in the title: "Cantofabule." What followed were two years of almost continuous concerts but also the creation of the soundtrack for the movie "Nemuritorii".

By this time, the popularity of Phoenix had grown huge; people loved their songs not only for what they were, but also because they contained thinly-veiled allusions to the Communist regime. The band members, especially Nicu Covaci, found themselves increasingly harassed by the Securitate. Covaci married a Dutch woman and left the country in 1976. He returned in 1977, bringing in relief aid for those struck by the powerful earthquake on March 4. After two grandiose concerts in Constanţa and Tulcea, Covaci surprisingly left the country again, this time with all the band members (except Baniciu) hidden inside their Marshall speakers - a huge undertaking, since in Communist Romania it was extremely difficult to obtain approval to travel abroad, and illegal border crossing was punished with imprisonment.

The 1980s

After arriving in Germany, Phoenix disbanded. Kappl and a few others (Erlend Krauser, Ovidiu Lipan) formed a new band, Madhouse and released a not very successful album named From The East. In 1981, Covaci co-opted Neumann and Lipan and English bassist Tom Buggie, who had an amazing technical playing ability, under the name Transsylvania Phoenix (since a band named Phoenix already existed) and released an LP named Transsylvania, containing two old Phoenix songs translated into English to target the Western audience and five new ones. Covaci together with Kappl also released two EPs and one maxi single as Transsylvania-Phoenix.

The comeback

Baba Novak album (2005)

In 1990 Phoenix made a triumphant comeback to Romania, with a highly emotional concert in their hometown Timişoara, the city that sparked the popular revolt in December 1989 that eventually led to the downfall of the Communist regime. In the following years, Phoenix toured a lot and released a few compilations of their older recordings. Internal frictions, especially between Covaci and Baniciu, were making headlines in the media.
A new album appeared in 2000, the first original album after their 1990 comeback; with the exception of Covaci, the lineup comprised none of the members from the '70s.
In 2002, the 40th Anniversary of the band brought together almost all former members in a supershow.
At the end of 2005 the band (in its classic gold lineup) released a new album, named Baba Novak.
As of 2007, the band still performs at live events.
